Ciattarelli, Sherrill Tied in New Jersey Poll
A new Emerson College/PIX11/The Hill poll of 935 somewhat/likely New Jersey voters finds Democrat Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciattarelli tied at 43% each, with 11% undecided. The survey shows a sharp demographic split — Sherrill leads 58%–24% with voters under 40 and holds advantages with women, while Ciattarelli leads 52%–36% with voters over 50 and among men. Voters list the economy, taxes and affordability as top concerns; the poll also finds low approval for Gov. Phil Murphy and a net-negative view of former President Donald Trump in New Jersey. The result follows the candidates’ first debate at Rider University; Ciattarelli has rolled out TV ads, won a police‑union endorsement and mounted an ad push attacking Sherrill’s plans, while both campaigns are trying to nationalize the race — Sherrill tying Ciattarelli to Trump and Ciattarelli tying Sherrill to Murphy and high costs — and Trump publicly celebrated the poll and reiterated his endorsement of Ciattarelli. Emerson’s executive director said the contest is highly competitive as it heads into the final weeks before the Nov. 4 election, and a second debate is scheduled for Oct. 8 in New Brunswick.
