Dallas Funeral Home Worker Dies After Burial Vault Collapse

A worker at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas was critically injured and subsequently died after being trapped beneath a burial vault that fell on him. The incident occurred around 2 p.m., with Dallas Fire-Rescue crews arriving to find the man pinned from the waist down. Firefighters used hydraulic spreaders and airbags, typically employed in vehicle extrications, to lift the heavy vault and free the worker. He was transported to a hospital with serious lower-body injuries but later died from these injuries.
