Harpootlian Represents Biden in Federal Libel Suit Against Byrne

Hunter Biden has hired attorney Dick Harpootlian, known for representing convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh, to pursue a federal libel lawsuit against former Overstock.com CEO Patrick Byrne. The lawsuit, filed in November 2023, alleges that Byrne made false statements suggesting Biden colluded with the Iranian government to unfreeze $8 billion in exchange for a bribe. Biden claims these statements are baseless and have harmed his reputation, resulting in lost economic opportunities. Harpootlian replaces Abbe David Lowell, who previously represented Biden in related legal matters. Despite Biden's pardons for earlier charges, he continues to face scrutiny and financial pressure. The court date for the defamation case is set for July in Los Angeles.
