Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, made his fifth visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, emphasizing continued European support as he nears the end of his term. In light of the political uncertainty following Donald Trump's election victory, Borrell reassured that Europe remains committed to backing Ukraine amid ongoing Russian aggression. He underscored the importance of maintaining a strong and united Europe, regardless of changes in US policy towards Ukraine, highlighting that Europe must uphold its commitments and interests. Borrell pointed out that since the start of the conflict, the EU has contributed around $125 billion to support Ukraine, while the US has provided over $90 billion. He stated that it is essential for EU countries to decide how to enhance their support as needed. Borrell plans to meet with Ukrainian officials to discuss future assistance strategies.
