Manhattan Courthouse Stabbing Renews Security Concerns
Two court officers were stabbed and slashed in a targeted attack at Manhattan's criminal courthouse at 100 Centre Street around 9:45 a.m. on Monday morning. The incident occurred in the lobby as officers monitored metal detectors, resulting in one officer suffering a facial wound, another a neck injury, and a third being pushed into a barrier. The 37-year-old suspect was quickly subdued, disarmed, and taken into custody, with charges pending and the motive still under investigation. All injured officers were hospitalized and are reported to be in stable condition. The attack has heightened concerns about courthouse security, prompting union leaders to renew calls for safer working conditions. The New York State Unified Court System and law enforcement partners are investigating the incident.
