Dallas Mavericks Sign No. 1 Pick Cooper Flagg to $62.7M Rookie Contract
The Dallas Mavericks have officially signed No. 1 overall draft pick Cooper Flagg to a four-year rookie contract worth approximately $62.7 million, with a first-year salary of about $13.8 million and team options for the third and fourth seasons. Flagg, an 18-year-old Duke standout and one of the most highly regarded American prospects in years, joins a roster featuring stars like Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, who is currently recovering from a torn ACL. This signing marks a historic moment for the Mavericks as Flagg is only the second No. 1 overall pick in franchise history, following Mark Aguirre in 1981, and the first time Dallas won the draft lottery. Flagg expressed excitement upon signing and plans to participate in the upcoming Summer League, where the Mavericks will face the Lakers in a nationally televised game. Additionally, the Mavericks re-signed veteran guard Dante Exum to a one-year deal to support the backcourt during Irving's recovery. The team's recent moves, including the trade of Luka Doncic and signing of D'Angelo Russell, position Dallas as an immediate contender once fully healthy.
