Filipino tennis star Alexandra Eala secured her first Women's Tennis Association (WTA) title by winning the 2025 Guadalajara Open, overcoming a slow start to defeat Hungary’s Panna Udvardy in three sets. Ranked 75th in the world, Eala showcased resilience throughout the tournament, including back-to-back wins on the same day against Varvara Lepchenko and Nicole Fossa Huergo to reach the semifinals. Earlier rounds saw Eala dominate Arianne Hartono and survive a rain-delayed, tightly contested match against Lepchenko. In the semifinal, she faced American Kayla Day, who had defeated Colombia’s Emiliana Arango.
