China's Vice Premier He Lifeng reassured executives from major companies including Apple, Pfizer, and Mastercard about the country's business potential during a meeting aimed at attracting foreign investment amid heightened geopolitical tensions. He emphasized that China will continue to improve its business environment, describing the economy as 'highly resilient' and 'full of vitality.' The meeting coincided with the China Development Forum, where Premier Li Qiang urged global markets to remain open to combat 'rising instability and uncertainty.' Notably, fewer American CEOs attended the forum compared to last year, reflecting ongoing caution in cross-border business relations. Despite these challenges, American firms comprised the largest group of attendees, indicating some optimism about opportunities in China. The Chinese government is keen to boost domestic consumption and counter the impacts of recent U.S. tariffs.
