O2 Launches AI to Combat Telephone Fraud

O2 has launched an AI tool named 'Daisy' aimed at combating telephone fraud in the UK, which engages scammers in long-winded conversations to prevent financial losses for its 24 million mobile customers. The system operates autonomously, employing a custom AI model to generate contextually relevant responses based on real-time conversations, which has been effective in thwarting over £250 million in fraudulent transactions last year. Meanwhile, the startup Odyssey is developing a camera system that captures immersive 3D environments by having users hike with a 25-pound setup, aiming to create detailed cinematic worlds powered by generative AI. Their technology includes six cameras and lidar sensors, allowing for high-resolution data collection for digital scene reconstruction. Odyssey recently secured $18 million in funding to expand its operations and enhance its AI capabilities. Both advancements highlight the growing integration of AI in diverse sectors, from telecommunications to creative industries.
