Tesla to Begin Austin Robotaxi Testing June 2025

Elon Musk has confirmed Tesla will begin public testing of its robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, by the end of June 2025, starting with around 10 vehicles and potentially scaling up to 1,000 within months. The rollout will be invite-only, geofenced to safe areas, and monitored remotely by teleoperators. Full regulatory approval for unsupervised operation is still pending, as US auto safety regulators have requested details on safety measures in adverse conditions. Musk remains committed to leading Tesla for at least five more years and predicts up to a million autonomous Teslas on US roads by the end of 2026.
