General manager Jim Nill praised Oettinger as one of the elite goaltenders in the NHL, highlighting his contributions to the team's success and playoff appearances over the past three years. Currently, Oettinger boasts a perfect 3-0-0 record this season with impressive stats of a 1.63 goals against average and a .948 save percentage.
