Multiple Missouri Bridges Close for Repairs, Demolition August 18-24

Multiple bridge closures and construction projects are underway across Missouri, impacting drivers and requiring alternate routes. The Buchanan County Route AC bridge over U.S. Route 36 in St. Joseph will be closed from August 18 to 21 for deck repairs, with a full replacement scheduled for 2027. In Kansas City, the Holmes Street Bridge over I-670 will undergo demolition starting August 22, resulting in a full closure of I-670 between key interchanges until August 25 as part of a replacement project. Meanwhile, in Springfield, the Missouri Route 413 bridge on Sunshine Street is closed for a $5.8 million replacement and pedestrian improvement project expected to last four months, causing significant commuter delays and detours. MoDOT is maintaining business access during these closures and advising drivers to seek alternate routes such as James River Freeway, Kansas Expressway, Chestnut Expressway, and U.S. Route 160.
