Jacobia Crisp appeared in court facing charges of aiding and abetting a fugitive and harboring an escapee after allegedly helping Ramone Alston, a prisoner serving a life sentence, escape from a transport van in Hillsborough, North Carolina. Alston, convicted for the 2015 murder of 1-year-old Maleah Williams, was captured three days later at a hotel in Kannapolis. Crisp, who had been communicating with Alston for several months primarily by phone, posted a $30,000 bond following her arrest. Authorities are investigating if others were involved in the escape. Alston is now held in a maximum-security unit and could face additional charges. Crisp's next court hearing is scheduled for September 13.
