John Cena, Kevin Hart Join Netflix Action Comedy In Early Development

Kevin Hart and John Cena are teaming up to star in and produce "The Leading Man," an action-comedy film for Netflix based on the comic book series by Jeremy Haun and B. Clay Moore. The project, still in early development, features a plot where Cena plays a self-absorbed movie star who discovers that Hart's character, his co-star and man in the chair, is an actual secret agent, forcing him to confront the reality that action stars aren't true heroes while trying to save the world. Writers Jon and Erich Hoeber, who previously sold the script for Netflix's "Fast & Loose," are penning the screenplay. This collaboration is part of Hart's multi-film deal with Netflix, and both actors are also serving as producers alongside a team including Luke Kelly-Clyne, Bryan Smiley, Joe Roth, and others. Cena is concurrently preparing for the second season of HBO Max's "Peacemaker" and other film projects, while Hart is working on additional Netflix comedies such as "72 Hours" and "Little Brother." The film marks Netflix's latest partnership with both stars, building on their established careers in action and comedy genres.
