On Wednesday in Worcester, a man fatally shot himself after being approached by police on I-190, following an earlier shooting incident on Heroult Road that left another man dead. Police were initially dispatched to Heroult Road at 2:20 p.m. after receiving reports of a gunshot victim. Later, around 3:40 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of a man with a firearm on I-190, where he attempted to carjack motorists and subsequently exchanged gunfire with police before turning the weapon on himself. Authorities believe the man linked to the highway incident is connected to the earlier shooting, and no further danger to the public exists. The highway was closed for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened. Both individuals involved in the incidents have not yet been named by authorities.
