Physics Wallah Raises $210M, Valuation Hits $2.8B

Indian edtech startup Physics Wallah (PW) has raised $210 million in a Series B funding round led by Hornbill Capital, bringing its valuation to $2.8 billion. The funding, which included participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, GSV, and WestBridge, will be used to expand PW's reach, enhance technological capabilities, and support mergers and acquisitions. PW plans to invest significantly in expanding its offline and hybrid centers and aims to hire 1,000 new employees. The company's revenue grew to over Rs 2,000 crore in FY24, and it boasts 25 million monthly active users and over 5.5 million paid students. Founded in 2020, PW initially started as a YouTube channel offering free educational content and now serves 46 million students in multiple languages. Despite challenging market conditions for edtech, PW's founders retain 85% of the company's equity.
