Norwegian Royal Family Faces Scandal Over Allegations

Marius Borg Hoiby, the 27-year-old son of Norway’s future queen, is at the center of multiple rape and assault allegations that have led to what is being deemed the royal family's 'biggest scandal' in history. Since his arrest on August 4 for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, police investigations have revealed a series of troubling accusations, including death threats, violations of a restraining order, and two rapes. Hoiby has admitted to assaulting his girlfriend during a cocaine- and alcohol-fueled argument, while also acknowledging his ongoing struggles with substance abuse and mental health issues. The scandal has intensified with two ex-girlfriends also alleging assaults, leading to a significant decline in public support for the monarchy. Furthermore, King Harald's health issues have compounded the royal family's challenges during this tumultuous year.
