The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and its players have finalized a groundbreaking collective bargaining agreement that abolishes the draft, guarantees contracts, and significantly increases player salaries and benefits. The minimum salary will rise from $48,500 in 2025 to $82,500 by 2030, while the salary cap is set to increase from $3.3 million to $5.1 million over the same period. Players will now have unrestricted free agency and must give consent for all trades, aligning the league with FIFA regulations. Additional enhancements include provisions for parental leave, mental health services, charter flights, and increased bonuses for end-of-season competitions. NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman emphasized that this agreement represents a pivotal shift towards elevating player agency and aligning with global standards in women's sports. The contract extends until 2030, reflecting the league's commitment to long-term labor peace and growth.
