Mostly Dry U.S.; Supermoon and La Niña
The second supermoon of 2025 will brighten November skies this week, offering an extra-bright moonrise. Much of the United States will be generally dry and mild with plentiful sunshine — North Texas could reach the upper 70s to 80s under a ridge, Maryland in the 60s, and Memphis warming into the low–mid 60s toward near 70s later in the week. Nights will be seasonably cool, with lows in the 30s and possible valley frost in parts of West Virginia, while daytime highs recover into the 50s–60s for many areas. Rain chances are limited through midweek, but some showers are possible by late week and two cold fronts in North Texas Friday–Saturday should usher in a cooler, drier airmass for the weekend. Internationally, Earth Sciences NZ places an 80% chance of La Niña from November–January, raising the likelihood of warm, humid conditions and episodic heavy rain for the upper and eastern North Island. Forecasters caution uncertainty remains in exact rainfall patterns, with western parts of the South Island likely drier and higher nighttime humidity expected where heavy rain occurs.
