New EV Charging Hubs Coming to Cheltenham

The EV Network is set to enhance Cheltenham's electric vehicle infrastructure by installing three new charging hubs, comprising 26 rapid charging bays, to support the local council's net zero goals by 2030. These hubs, equipped with 300kW ultra-rapid chargers, aim to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles, coinciding with the Christmas shopping season. Meanwhile, a report by Field Dynamics highlights disparities in EV charging access across the UK, revealing that over 75% of households without off-street parking lack proximity to a public charger, particularly in rural areas. Although the number of public chargers has increased significantly, there remain 'charging deserts' where access is severely limited. Recent initiatives in Kempsey, including a new EV charger funded by the NSW Government, aim to support sustainable transport and boost local tourism. As the EV market grows, ensuring robust, secure infrastructure and equitable access to charging stations becomes paramount.
