Def Leppard Guitarist Vivian Campbell Enters Remission After 12-Year Cancer Battle

Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell announced he is completely in remission from Hodgkin lymphoma for the first time since his diagnosis in 2013. Campbell underwent various treatments over the years, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and a stem cell transplant using his own cells, which ultimately failed. His doctors then recommended a donor stem cell transplant, which he received after intensive chemotherapy preparation during Def Leppard's 2024 summer tour. Although he lost his initial donor shortly before the transplant, a second donor was found in December, leading to a successful transplant completed on New Year's Eve. A PET scan in April confirmed Campbell is 100% cancer-free, allowing him to return to performing with Def Leppard in May 2025. Campbell expressed deep gratitude toward his donor, hoping to thank him personally one day for saving his life.
