The death toll from severe flooding in Myanmar, caused by Typhoon Yagi, has risen to 293, with 89 individuals still missing, as reported by the junta's information team. The flooding has devastated nearly 270,000 hectares of crops and resulted in significant livestock losses, exacerbating the plight of a nation already struggling with the aftermath of a military coup. Across the Southeast Asia region, the typhoon has led to a cumulative death toll of 613. The United Nations has warned that approximately 630,000 people in Myanmar may require assistance in the wake of the disaster. In response to the crisis, the junta has made a rare appeal for international aid, receiving the first shipments from India. Junta chief Min Aung Hlaing has ordered rehabilitation efforts to restore normalcy within six months.
