Subhash Chandra, chairman emeritus of Zee Entertainment, has leveled serious allegations against SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, claiming corruption and bias, particularly criticizing her role in the failed Zee-Sony merger. He has announced his decision to cease cooperation with SEBI and is considering legal action, asserting that Buch's actions undermined the merger and harmed minority shareholders' interests. Chandra alleged that Buch had illegal financial dealings with former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar and called upon other corporate entities to join his cause. While SEBI has not commented on the allegations, a source described them as malicious. Chandra also mentioned reaching out to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman without receiving a response, amid ongoing scrutiny from SEBI regarding fund misuse allegations against him and his son. The controversy follows SEBI's prior actions that barred Chandra and his son from holding key management positions in listed companies, a decision currently stayed by the Securities Appellate Tribunal.
