Georgia President Calls for New Elections

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has called for new parliamentary elections, asserting the results of the October 26 vote were manipulated and illegitimate, leading to a political crisis exacerbated by alleged Russian interference. This call follows widespread protests from the pro-Western opposition, who refuse to recognize the election results, deeming them rigged in favor of the ruling Georgian Dream party. The European Union and the United States have also urged investigations into reported electoral irregularities.
