Heavy rain in South Korea
A tropical depression, previously Tropical Storm Jongdari, brought heavy rainfall to southern South Korea and the Seoul area on Wednesday, with some regions recording 10 to 16 centimeters (3.9 to 6.2 inches) of rain. While no injuries have been reported, at least 19 vehicles were damaged due to flooding in towns like Ulju and Ulsan. Emergency services also responded to flooded homes, and government officials have urged vigilance in areas prone to flooding, including underground passageways and basements. Dozens of roads and public parks have been closed as a precaution. The South Korean weather agency expects the depression to dissipate soon. This weather event follows a record-breaking stretch of tropical nights in the region, indicating ongoing climate challenges.
