Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Hits $420 Million Globally

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has set a new record as the highest-grossing film in the franchise, with a global box office of $420 million, surpassing Sonic 2's $405 million. Released in January, the film features Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles teaming up with Dr. Robotnik to battle Shadow the Hedgehog. Despite competing with Disney's 'Mufasa: The Lion King,' Sonic 3 has performed strongly both domestically and internationally, earning $216 million in the US and $203 million overseas. This installment, with a production cost of $120 million, is the most expensive of the trilogy but has proven highly profitable. The franchise has collectively earned over $1.1 billion globally since its inception in 2020.
