The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have restructured quarterback Baker Mayfield's three-year, $100 million contract, guaranteeing him $30 million for the 2026 season, which previously had no guaranteed money. The adjustment does not alter the contract's length or total value but provides Mayfield with added financial security. Mayfield, coming off a career-best 2024 season with 4,500 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, and a 71.4% completion rate, led the Buccaneers to a second straight playoff appearance. General manager Jason Licht reiterated his desire to keep Mayfield long-term, while Mayfield has expressed his appreciation for the franchise and his hope to remain in Tampa Bay. The restructuring is regarded as a show of good faith by the team, recognizing that Mayfield is currently underpaid compared to other quarterbacks. If he maintains his strong play, a major contract extension could be negotiated next offseason.
