The Delhi Police have intensified their crackdown on the illegal sale of Chinese 'manjha', a banned synthetic kite string linked to serious injuries and fatalities, particularly ahead of Independence Day celebrations. Recently, three individuals were arrested, with Prem Chand apprehended in Rohini possessing 11,820 reels, and two others, Adnan and Asjad, arrested in separate operations with a total of 323 reels. This enforcement effort follows strict directives and an ongoing campaign since the ban on Chinese manjha was instituted in 2017, leading to 79 arrests and 78 FIRs registered this year alone. The police are actively tracing the sources of the illicit manjha, emphasizing the risks it poses to both humans and wildlife. The crackdown reflects a broader commitment to public safety amidst rising concerns over the dangers associated with this material.
