Police Investigate Shooting at Ian Hislop's Taxi

Ian Hislop, editor of Private Eye and star of 'Have I Got News For You,' was in a black cab that was reportedly targeted by a gunman in Soho, central London. The incident occurred at around 10am on Tuesday, October 1, near Oxford Street, close to Private Eye's offices. Hislop and the taxi driver were unharmed despite the rear window of the cab being struck by what appeared to be a bullet. The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation, examining CCTV footage and searching the area to identify the gunman, while keeping an open mind about the motive. Roads in the area were temporarily closed as part of the investigation. Hislop, who has been editor of the satirical magazine since 1986, is also a long-serving panellist on the BBC comedy quiz show.
