Djokovic Enters Geneva Open Seeking 100th Title, First Clay Win This Season

Novak Djokovic is set to compete at the Geneva Open from May 17-24 as a final warm-up before the French Open, aiming for his first clay-court title this season and his 100th singles title overall. Despite early exits in Monte Carlo and Madrid leaving him 0-2 on the European clay circuit, Djokovic is determined to regain momentum ahead of Roland Garros. The tournament features strong competitors, including world No. 4 Taylor Fritz and defending champion Casper Ruud, who has dominated Geneva in recent years. Djokovic is also expected to celebrate his 38th birthday during the event on May 22. Last year, Djokovic reached the semifinals in Geneva but was eliminated by Tomas Machac, later withdrawing from the French Open quarterfinals against Ruud due to a knee injury, which led to the loss of his No. 1 ranking. Additionally, Djokovic declined participation in Rome but accepted a wildcard invitation to Geneva to gain crucial match practice on clay.
