UK F-35B Makes First Emergency Landing in India

A British Royal Navy F-35B fighter jet from HMS Prince of Wales made an emergency landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Kerala after multiple failed attempts to land on the carrier due to rough sea conditions and low fuel. The Indian Air Force and airport authorities promptly declared an emergency and provided support, including security and refuelling coordination. Officials described the landing as a routine diversion, emphasizing that the incident posed no security risk and that the IAF was fully briefed throughout. The jet remains parked at the airport under tight security, awaiting clearance to return to the carrier once conditions improve. This is the first time a foreign F-35 has made an unplanned landing in India. The event follows recent joint exercises between the UK Carrier Strike Group and the Indian Navy.
