Tigers defeat Mariners 9-6 for first win of season
The Detroit Tigers secured their first victory of the season with a decisive 9-6 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday night. The Tigers exploded for six runs in the first inning, with contributions from Justyn-Henry Malloy, who made a quick transition from Triple-A and led off with a double, and Javier Báez, who capped the inning with a two-run double. Rookie pitcher Jackson Jobe, making his first career start, benefitted from the early lead despite allowing two home runs later in the game. The Tigers had a total of 18 hits, with six players achieving multi-hit games. Seattle's Emerson Hancock struggled on the mound, recording only two outs in the first inning. This win marked a comeback for the Tigers after being swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in their season-opening series.
