Risa Labs, a Silicon Valley healthtech startup, has raised $3.5 million in seed funding led by Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal to deploy its AI-powered workflow automation platform, BOSS, across 100 U.S. cancer centers. BOSS uses a network of large language models, digital twins, and reinforcement learners to break down and automate complex healthcare workflows, targeting the persistent issue of prior authorization delays that hinder timely cancer treatment. These delays affect up to 70% of cancer patients and can increase mortality risk, with BOSS having demonstrated the ability to reduce prior authorization times from 30 minutes to under five and cut administrative costs by two-thirds at a U.S. cancer center. Unlike traditional automation bots, BOSS operates as a full-stack orchestration engine, creating a parallel digital workforce that complements human teams and adapts to institutional complexity. Risa Labs aims to build a unified AI-driven layer for improved coordination throughout the oncology drug lifecycle, addressing the critical bottleneck of administrative red tape in cancer care. The funding will accelerate the expansion and deployment of this platform, aiming to improve patient outcomes and institutional efficiency.
