Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar Face Off in 2025 Emmy Nominations

At the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards, Beyoncé and Jay-Z face off in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category, with Beyoncé nominated for her Netflix special Beyoncé Bowl and Jay-Z as an executive producer for Kendrick Lamar’s Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. Beyoncé also received a nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, a category in which she has been nominated multiple times but has yet to win an Emmy, while Jay-Z has previously won two Emmys. Both Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar’s halftime shows were highly acclaimed, with Lamar’s performance setting a record for the most-viewed Super Bowl halftime show with over 133 million viewers. The choreography for both shows, led by Charm La’Donna, received nominations, alongside other nominees including the 2025 Oscars and Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary specials. Kendrick Lamar additionally earned nominations for Outstanding Music Direction and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. The Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled for September 14, 2025, to be broadcast live on CBS.
