Rays' Amed Rosario Hit in Face by Pitch

Tampa Bay Rays' third baseman Amed Rosario was hit in the head by a 99-mile-per-hour fastball from Pirates' rookie Jared Jones, resulting in facial lacerations but no broken bones. Rosario received two stitches for the injury and was taken out of the game early. Fortunately, the impact was softened by a flap on his helmet, and he is not expected to be placed on the injured list. Initial evaluations suggest that Rosario may have avoided any fractures, and he is currently considered day-to-day for further evaluation.
