Two Educators Arrested on Child Exploitation Charges

Two former educators, one from New Orleans and one from Mississippi, have been arrested on multiple felony charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. Joshua Kagler, a former teacher and choir director at several New Orleans high schools, faces charges including five counts of trafficking children for sexual purposes. Tyler Shows, a former award-winning math teacher at Petal Upper Elementary in Mississippi, has been charged with six counts, including touching a child for lustful purposes and disseminating sexually explicit material to a minor. The New Orleans Police Department’s Special Victims Division’s Child Abuse Cold Case Unit and the U.S. Marshals Task Force assisted in Kagler's arrest, while Shows was arrested following a year-long investigation and is currently in jail. Authorities in both cases are urging potential victims to come forward and emphasizing confidentiality. These arrests underscore ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat child exploitation in educational settings.
