Five Men Convicted in £1 Million Vehicle Theft Scheme, Coventry

A gang of five men has been convicted of conspiring to steal nearly £1 million worth of luxury cars and motorcycles in Coventry between 2022 and 2023. The group, which included Jason O'Farrell, Kian O'Shea, Deacon Cumberbatch, Tyrone Henn, and a nameless teenager, was charged with 47 separate offences related to car key burglaries and car-jackings. The investigation, one of the most extensive in the Coventry Local Policing Area, involved reviewing hours of social media footage and mobile messages, which revealed the culprits' activities and even their attempts to sell stolen vehicles back to their owners. The group was arrested following extensive inquiries, with several members pleading guilty while others changed their pleas during trial. Chief Superintendent Paul Drover remarked on the significant impact of their crimes on victims, highlighting the brazen nature of the gang's actions. Sentencing for the gang members is scheduled for March, with 24 of the stolen vehicles recovered so far.
