India Injects Rs 211 Crore into Space Startups to Boost Sector
The Indian government has invested ₹211 crore in space-tech startups through the Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS) scheme under the Startup India initiative, aiming to boost homegrown innovation and strengthen India's position as a rising space power. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted that this investment supports cutting-edge technologies and youth-driven entrepreneurship aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of innovation and self-reliance. Startups such as Ethereal X are contributing significantly to India's space achievements and global reputation for innovation. The government is implementing three flagship schemes—FFS, Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS), and Credit Guarantee Scheme for Startups (CGSS)—to support startups at various business stages. Furthermore, over 350 Indian startups are now engaged in advanced space projects, with increased government funding from ₹5,615 crore in 2013-14 to ₹13,416 crore for 2025-26 to sustain innovation and public-private partnerships. These efforts reflect India's commitment to leveraging space technology for exploration and transformation.
