Yorkshire Lorry Driver Jailed Over Life-Changing A27 Crash Injuries
Kuljinder Singh, a 45-year-old lorry driver from Redcar, North Yorkshire, was sentenced to over three years in prison after crashing his Mercedes HGV into stationary traffic on the A27 near Chichester, causing life-changing injuries to three people. The collision occurred when Singh failed to brake and accelerated to over 50mph, hitting a van and causing one car to overturn. Victims described lasting trauma and frustration over the lack of explanation from Singh regarding the crash. Singh admitted to three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was also disqualified from driving for nearly five years. Investigations confirmed he was not using a mobile phone or under the influence of alcohol at the time. Police released footage showing the crash, highlighting the severity and avoidable nature of the collision.
