Ford, Volkswagen Recall Vehicles for Camera Issues
Ford is recalling nearly 1.1 million Ford and Lincoln vehicles in the U.S. and Canada due to a software glitch that can cause rearview cameras to freeze, delay, or fail, increasing accident risk. The recall covers models including the F-150 pickup, Ford Edge, Transit vans, and Bronco SUV, with owner notifications beginning June 16 and a software update available between July and September. No injuries have been reported, but one minor crash involving property damage is linked to the issue. In a separate action, Volkswagen is recalling over 171,000 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport vehicles in the U.S. for distorted rearview camera images. Both automakers urge owners to check their recall status and contact customer support or the NHTSA for more information. These recalls highlight ongoing safety concerns related to rearview camera systems.
