S.W.A.T. Exiles Spinoff Adds Two OG Cast Members Scheduled Filming
The upcoming S.W.A.T. spin-off, titled S.W.A.T. Exiles, will see Shemar Moore reprise his role as Sergeant II Daniel Harrelson leading a new task force of inexperienced recruits. In response to fan backlash over the initial announcement that only Moore would return, legacy actors Jay Harrington and Patrick St. Esprit will also appear in guest roles as Sergeant David 'Deacon' Kay and Commander Robert Hicks, respectively, but only in the pilot episode. Both Harrington and St. Esprit were key cast members during the original show's eight-season run, and their characters are expected to play critical roles in pulling Harrelson back from retirement. Despite some disappointment expressed by the original cast over the initial exclusion, the inclusion of these legacy characters offers continuity and acknowledgment of the original series' long history. The series is being produced by Sony Pictures Television and is planned for a 10-episode first season, though its eventual network or streaming platform has not yet been announced. The spin-off will explore new dynamics as Harrelson navigates generational divides and works to mold a team of outsiders into a cohesive unit.
