Colombian Influencer Fatally Shot After Court Victory

Maria Jose Estupiñán Sanchez, a 22-year-old Colombian social media influencer and communications student, was fatally shot outside her home in Cucuta by a man posing as a delivery worker. The attacker, identified on security footage, shot her at close range before fleeing, and police suspect her ex-boyfriend, against whom she had recently won a domestic violence case, may be involved. Estupiñán had just secured a payout of 30 million COP (about $7,000 USD) from the case, and authorities are investigating if her legal victory is linked to her murder. Her killing has sparked outrage and renewed concern about violence against women in the region, especially as it follows the murder of another Latin American influencer.
