Maricopa County Names Suspect in New River Pastor Murder
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office identified Adam Sheafe, 51, as the suspect in the murder of Pastor William Schonemann, who was found dead in his New River home with his hands pinned to the wall. Sheafe has a lengthy criminal history, including prior arrests for burglary, domestic violence, and federal charges such as bank fraud and aggravated identity theft. He was arrested by Sedona Police on unrelated burglary charges shortly after Schonemann's death. Surveillance footage from a Sedona property shows a man believed to be Sheafe near a pool under construction, and SWAT teams were deployed during his arrest. Authorities have highlighted his extensive criminal record across multiple jurisdictions, including Tucson and the High Country. The investigation continues as officials seek to understand the motive behind the pastor's murder.
