George Clinton, Doobie Brothers, Mike Love Inducted into 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame

The Songwriters Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 inductees, including funk pioneer George Clinton, members of The Doobie Brothers, Mike Love from The Beach Boys, country songwriter Ashley Gorley, producer Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins, and songwriter Tony Macaulay. The induction ceremony is set for June 12 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Nile Rodgers, the Hall's chairman, emphasized the importance of songwriters in the music industry, stating that their contributions are foundational to recorded music and entertainment. Notable nominees who did not make the cut this year include Janet Jackson, Eminem, and Sheryl Crow. The event, which celebrates the achievements of songwriters, has garnered attention for its blend of recognition and intimate atmosphere, as it has never been televised. Last year’s inductees included well-known acts such as R.E.M. and Timbaland.
