Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Renewed for Season 2

Paramount+ has announced the early renewal of 'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' for a second season, even before the first season has premiered. The announcement was made during a livestream at New York Comic-Con by co-showrunner Alex Kurtzman, who also revealed that Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany has joined the cast as a recurring guest star for the first season. The series will follow a new group of Starfleet cadets as they navigate friendships, rivalries, and first loves while facing a new adversary that threatens the Academy and the Federation. The cast includes notable names such as Holly Hunter, Paul Giamatti, and Tig Notaro, alongside a young ensemble of cadets. The show is produced by CBS Studios and is expected to debut in either 2025 or 2026. Details about Maslany's character remain undisclosed.
