Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a complete ban on smoking, drinking alcohol, and consuming gutka or paan on Chamundi Hills, along with plans for the area to become plastic-free. In a bid to enhance the spiritual experience, he emphasized that photography will be prohibited inside the temple and mobile phones must be switched off. An additional ₹11 crore will be allocated to support the Union Government's Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD) scheme, which will fund the renovation of five temples in the region. Siddaramaiah also revealed plans for a comprehensive five-year development strategy for Chamundi Hills, including increased security measures such as CCTV cameras. All visitors, regardless of background, will be welcomed without a dress code, as the government aims to make the area more inclusive. The Chamundeshwari Kshetra Development Authority has been established to oversee these initiatives and improve facilities for the growing number of devotees.
