Elgin Man Charged After High-Speed Four-Car Crash, Injuries Crystal Lake

Deondrae L. Clements, a 35-year-old man from Elgin, has been charged with multiple felonies after causing a high-speed, four-vehicle crash in Crystal Lake late Tuesday night. Police say Clements fled an attempted traffic stop in Cary before speeding more than 40 mph over the limit, running a red light at Route 31 and Three Oaks Road, and colliding with two sedans and an SUV. The crash resulted in serious but non-life-threatening injuries to the SUV driver, who was airlifted to a hospital, and minor injuries to the sedan drivers. Clements fled the scene but was apprehended by East Dundee police, treated for minor injuries, and taken into custody. He faces charges including aggravated reckless driving causing great bodily harm, failure to report an injury crash, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and driving with a revoked or suspended license. Authorities are continuing their investigation and seek information from the public.
