Two Arrested in New Mexico Mass Shooting, 3 Dead, 15 Injured
Two suspects, 20-year-old Tomas Rivas and a 17-year-old juvenile, have been arrested in connection with a mass shooting at an unsanctioned car show in Young Park, Las Cruces, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to 15 others. Both suspects are charged with three open counts of murder, with additional charges pending as the investigation continues. The victims were identified as 16-year-old Andrew Madrid, 18-year-old Jason Gomez, and 19-year-old Dominick Estrada; Madrid and Gomez died at the scene, while Estrada later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. Police reported that an altercation between two groups escalated into gunfire around 10 p.m. on Friday, injuring bystanders as well. The injured victims, aged 16 to 36, included nine males and six females, though their identities have not been released for privacy reasons. Authorities are actively pursuing multiple leads and have closed Young Park and surrounding roads as part of the ongoing investigation.
