Kyiri Tisdale, a 31-year-old math teacher at Escondido High School, has been arrested on charges of having a sexual relationship with a minor student and faces 26 counts of various sexual misconduct charges. The Escondido Police Department began investigating last month after receiving a report of Tisdale's alleged misconduct, which involved a 19-year-old female former student and is believed to include at least one additional victim. Detectives executed a search warrant at Tisdale's home and confiscated his phone and computer as part of the investigation. Tisdale was arrested at the school while preparing his classroom for the upcoming school year and is currently held on $250,000 bail. If convicted, he could face up to 19 years and 8 months in prison. The school district has placed Tisdale on administrative leave and is providing counseling services to students affected by the situation.
