Former South Africa Rugby Star Cornal Hendricks Dies Aged 37

Cornal Hendricks, a former South African rugby star who earned 12 caps for the Springboks and was known for his infectious smile and hardworking nature, has died at the age of 37 due to a heart attack. Diagnosed with a serious heart condition in 2016, Hendricks was forced to retire prematurely but made a remarkable comeback in 2019 with the Bulls, playing until 2024 and nearly earning a recall to the national team. Throughout his career, he represented several South African clubs, including Boland Cavaliers, Cheetahs, Bulls, and Blue Bulls, as well as the South African rugby sevens team, winning Commonwealth gold in 2014. SA Rugby and Bulls officials expressed deep sorrow, highlighting Hendricks' energy, love of life, and inspirational role on and off the field.
